Today’s pictures are from a journey I made with Vasantha Senanayake in 2018, just two nights before a meeting I had in Delhi. We flew straight to Ahmedabad where AeA had arranged a car for me, to drive to Junagandh where we first saw the Mahabat Maqbara, an extraordinary blend of Gothic and Islamic architecture from the late 19th century. We also saw the fascinating Uparkot Fort, and a few Buddhist caves just opposite.

Then Somnath, where we got to the temple after dinner, and then next day we went to Diu for its fort and its churches. A lovely hotel on the beach had a little pool on its balcony which was lovely to relax in, and the next day we saw the old Harappan site of Lothal with a delightful little museum before the flight back to Delhi.
