I’m afraid this too comes late for we had no internet all morning, even though there was electricity. But at least connectivity came back a bit earlier.

Today’s pictures are from Kazakhstan, which I found fascinating. I had long wanted to get to Uzbekistan, and I did so in 2015 as the pictures last week indicate. But before that I got a  visa to Kazakhstan and saw Almaty plus some wonderful historical sites including the ruined cities or Otrar and Suran from Silk Route days. I loved Turkistan with its turquoise domes and Sayram for its minaret and two unusual tombs near Taraz.

And back in Almaty we had a fablous day tour to Charyn Canyon with its fantastic rock formations and a delightful stream at which we had a picnic.
